Max's Fan Club
Max's journeys give people living in the lower 48 states a rare chance to see an American golden-plover, as Max and his friends stop occasionally to rest and eat. Max attracts quite a following on the ground. Birdwatchers (or birders, as they call themselves) anticipate Max's arrival all winter. As the land begins to awaken from its winter sleep and the colorful signs of spring appear, people head outdoors to watch for Max and his friends.
